Privacy Policy

Who we are

Swoof (swoof.es) is a free dog sitting exchange platform operated by an individual based in Spain. We help neighbors swap dog sitting using a simple credit system — no money involved.

What data we collect

When you use Swoof, we collect and store the following data:

• Account information — email address, display name, and authentication details (including Google OAuth data if you sign in with Google).
• Profile information — city, neighborhood, short bio, and avatar (uploaded photo or generated avatar).
• Dog information — name, breed, age, personality notes, and photos of your dogs.
• Location data — approximate location coordinates used to show nearby neighbors. We only access your location when you explicitly grant permission.
• Messages — text messages you send to other users through the in-app chat.
• Push notification subscriptions — browser push subscription data if you opt in to notifications.
• Swoof activity — records of dog sitting exchanges, credits, and reviews.

How we use your data

We use your data exclusively to provide the Swoof service:

• To create and manage your account.
• To show your profile to nearby neighbors so they can propose dog sitting exchanges.
• To enable messaging between users.
• To manage the credit system and swoof exchanges.
• To send push notifications about new messages and swoof updates (only if you opt in).

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers. We do not use tracking cookies or analytics tools.

Where your data is stored

• Supabase (EU-West-3, Paris) — database, authentication, and file storage. Supabase is our primary data processor.
• Vercel — hosting and serverless functions. Your requests pass through Vercel's infrastructure.

Your data is stored within the European Union. We do not intentionally transfer data outside the EU.

Third-party services

• Supabase — database, auth, and storage (privacy policy).
• Vercel — hosting (privacy policy).
• Google OAuth — if you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your email and name from Google. We do not access any other Google data.
• DiceBear — we use DiceBear to generate default avatar images. No personal data is sent to DiceBear.

Cookies

Swoof uses minimal cookies. We only store an authentication session cookie required to keep you signed in. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, all your personal data — including your profile, dogs, messages, and swoof history — is permanently deleted.

Your rights (GDPR)

As a user in the European Union, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Access — you can request a copy of all data we hold about you.
• Rectification — you can update or correct your data at any time through your profile.
• Deletion — you can delete your account and all associated data at any time.
• Portability — you can request your data in a machine-readable format.
• Objection — you can object to how we process your data.

Children

Swoof is not intended for use by anyone under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify users through the app. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
